Mobility India

Mobility India has reached a milestone by completing 30 years of impactful service in the disability rehabilitation and development sector, addressing the needs of people with disabilities, the elderly, and those living with chronic conditions in underserved communities.   Mobility India has transformed approximately 800,000 lives, with 40% being women and girls; its staff including 29% with persons with disabilities and 49% women.

 

 

  • Azim Premji Foundation (2021-2024)- budget- ₹4,47,84,327

Prior to the project, there was limited awareness of disability rights, rehabilitation services, education, and employment opportunities. The initiative conducted awareness programs for over 1,500 participants, sensitizing them to disability-related issues, including early identification, intervention, assistive technology, education, and livelihood opportunities.

The program provided 697 assistive devices and 360 therapy sessions, significantly improving the functional abilities and independence of 834 beneficiaries, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

Through the project, 105 teachers were trained, and 680 children were supported to access inclusive education.

The project trained 734 ASHA workers and 467 Anganwadi workers on disability, early identification, intervention, and management, benefiting a total of 1,201 individuals.

  • AbbVie Therapeutics India (2016-2024)- ₹2,16,35,718

The program provided over 325 assistive devices, including 13 wheelchairs and developmental devices, benefiting 410 individuals.

The initiative delivered 2,311 therapy sessions, enhancing mobility and reducing secondary deformities for 410 beneficiaries.

The program trained 2,813 individuals, including frontline health workers, Anganwadi workers, community volunteers, and parents, on disability management and hygiene awareness.

Essential medicines and nutrition kits were provided to 40 children annually, improving immunity and cognitive functions for a total of 320 beneficiaries.

  • United Way (2021-2024)- ₹22,02,000

The project provided 84 assistive devices, 33 positional devices, and 9 custom-fit wheelchairs, benefiting 136 individuals.

The program screened 144 children and provided monthly nutrition support to 55 children, addressing these issues.

The project supported 50 children with educational materials and prepared 12 children for inclusive education.

  • Cognizant Foundation (2016-2017) ₹12,18,142

The project fabricated 1,575 devices using advanced equipment, improving efficiency and reaching 654 beneficiaries

Hands-on training was provided to 92 individuals, enhancing their skills in using advanced tools.

The project increased fabrication of prosthetic and orthotic devices capacity by 50%, ensuring timely service delivery and improved quality for 654 beneficiaries.

  • Promotion of Inclusive Education Project (2021-2024) ₹4,75,00,000

Sensitization workshops for SDMC members were conducted, resulting in increased school enrollment and retention of 1,200 children with disabilities.

The project provided 697 assistive devices, reducing secondary deformities and enhancing mobility for 341 beneficiaries.

This initiative was a transformative force in disability-inclusive development by ensuring access to healthcare, education, socioeconomic empowerment, nutrition, and livelihood opportunities, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. It fostered independence and inclusion by providing quality assistive devices like prostheses, orthoses, and mobility aids. Through accredited training programs in prosthetics and orthotics, the institution has trained over 7,600 candidates from 34 countries and 25 states. It has successfully built disability-inclusive community structures, offering education, healthcare, rehabilitation, and livelihood support. Through research and awareness efforts, it continues to shape policies and best practices on national and international platforms. With a steadfast commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, this initiative paves the way for a more accessible and inclusive society.
